Silverdocs Documentary Film Festival
In it’s 6th year, Silverdocs, the annual international documentary film festival in Washington, DC brings 108 documentary films from 63 countries, including 20 U.S. premieres to the Capital region.
Providing a forum for international filmmakers with access to American audiences. Various awards are presented during the festival as well as a 5-day International Documentary Conference and the Guggenheim’s symposium award for artistic excellence.
The range of topics is wide as the list of films from ballet to war, nature to AIDS.
Some of the more interesting documentaries are:
- Corridor 8 - a road trip documentary down the Balkan equivalent of America’s Route 66.
- Dust - It’s everywhere, and it impact daily life and health.
- Generation 68 - The peace and love generation, from a European perspective.
- Gonzo - The Life and Times of Hunter S. Thompson - profile of the gonzo anti-hero journalist.
- Mechanical Love - the relationship between people and therapeutic robots.

Tickets - $10.00 and are available in advance online, by phone (1-877-DOCS-TIX) or at the box office.
Nearest Metro Subway Station - Silver Spring - Red line. AFI Silver Theater is a 2-block walk, Discovery HQ is adjacent tot he Metro station.
Parking - AFI Silver Theater - use the Wayne Ave. garage - FREE after 6:00 p.m. weekdays and all day on weekends. Discovery HQ - metered street or paid parking at the Dixon Ave. garage across from the front door.

these Silverdocs people are a legend in their own Mind. yikes. Mcdonalds could run a better festival. Shame on Discovery and AFI.
