The B5Media network:

Woman on-the-Street Interview

Late Wednesday morning, I witnessed a local television reporter conducting on-the-street interviews of people visiting the cherry blossoms near the Washington Monument.

The moment the interview started, the tourist visiting from Italy, turned her own video camera on herself. When the reported ask why she was recording her own interview, she commented, “for the people back in Italy”.

You can see her holding her video and pointing it toward herself and the crew.  I guess that’s one way to prove you used up a couple of your fifteen minutes of fame.

The reporter was, I believe was, Roberta Baskins, from DC’s ABC affiliate, Channel 7.

Last night I saw the cherry blossom festival fireworks from Gravelly Point. You normally cannot go there at night but there were at least 100 people there. We had a fantastic seat right across the water from the fireworks, with the occasional airplane flying over us and the beautiful nightly view of the DC monuments. It was a great experience, now only if my camera could have taken clear shots at night! :c(

Also, one can always park in Gravelly Point walk on the path towards DC. On the 3rd bridge there is a trail to the left that takes you across the bridge right into the tidal basin. Great way to explore DC for free!

Good call “Z”. For those unfamiliar with it, Gravelly Point is a landfill park area just north of Reagan National Airport. I think I’ll start parking there when I need close in parking for a bike ride.
