Mr. Las Vegas - Wayne Newton
Another UPDATE:
Mr. Las Vegas should be renamed Mr. Lying No Show.
His “illness” didn’t stop him from performing ”Danke Schoen,” on Dancing with the Stars last night. What? Did he think no one would notice? Why not just cancel stating “scheduling conflicts”?
Update: The Birchmere just announced that this show has been CANCELLED due to “artist illness”. They are hoping to reschedule in 2008.
Tickets ordered through Ticketmaster by phone or over the Internet have been refunded. Tickets bought at the ticket office are refundable through 11/1/07.
Straight off his recent elimination from Dancing with the Stars with his professional dance partner, Cheryl Burke, Wayne can now return to something he’s a bit more comfortable with…Being Mr. Las Vegas.
Since 1962 when he and his brother made their first of twelve appearances on The Jackie Gleason Show, Wayne Newton has been an American (or at lease a Las Vegas) icon. By 1994, he had performed in his 25,000th Las Vegas show, which is roughly 2 shows every day, including weekends for almost 30 years.
He’s probably best known for “Daddy Don’t You Walk So Fast” and his version of “Danke Shoen” (also made famous by Matthew Broderick aka Ferris Bueller). He’s had a couple other Top 40 hits and has covered dozens of hits and standards in his own ultra-cool Vegas style. He’s also had a few cameos and bit parts on a few TV shows and movies.
Have you ever seen better teeth or hair on a man? (That’s a joke!)
