DC…A Top 10 Place for Value Vacations…Again!
Let’s face it, DC is a great place to visit, even if you’re on a limited budget. Unlike many other vacation destinations where every museum or point-of-interest has an entrance fee, the vast majority of places in Washington, DC are free.
Between the Smithsonian with its close to 20 museums, the National Mall with more than a dozen National memorials and monuments, plus add in The U.S. Capitol, The White House, the Supreme Court, and countless other attractions, parks, and city life - DC is THE place for enjoying yourself without having to pay for admission every time you turn around. Plus, you can learn about our history, our government and have tons of fun as well.
Recently Hotwire.com published its Best Places for Value Vacations for 2007 and listed Washington, DC as number 10. I’m a bit surprised DC was ranked so low, based on the vast number and wide range of free things to do in and around DC as well as how family-friendly it is.
Hotwire’s rankings were based on travel costs (air fares, car rental and hotel rate), affordable entertainment options, and the city’s overall appeal.
But it was nice to see DC on the list again.
