Cash or Credit? Oh, Sorry…Credit Only!
A Washington DC crepe café stopped accepting cash from customers. It now only accepts payment by credit and debit cards, as recently reported in a story on National Public Radio.
The shop’s owner stated the decision was made to try to reduce the risk of theft, eliminate the time and effort to make change for customers and to eliminate trips to the bank.
While it’s nice to reduce your business risks, I’m thinking the owner may have lost sight regarding her customer’s needs..???
Listen to the original NPR story. You can also read about the ongoing debate in an interesting article on Slate.
How do you feel about a business not accepting cash?
Is this the start of a No-Cash-Accepted trend? Or was this just the owner’s (successful) attempt to get a bit of free PR?
