The DC Traveler

Wolf Trap

by Jon on April 20th, 2007

While the recent DC weather doesn’t have most people thinking about being outside, the summer schedule for music and dance at Wolf Trap is out.

From classic to pop, opera to country, jazz to dance, Wolf Trap is the place to be on just about any summer evening for some of the Capital areas best music.

You can reserve a seat close to the stage or toss a blanket on the lawn and bring a bottle of wine and a picnic. You can also dine at the Ovation Restaurant prior to the show (reservations strongly recommended) or pick-up a picnic-to-go at Meals Beneath the Moon.

This year the schedule is again packed with some great acts, but probably not much for the under 20 crowd.

Some of the must-see shows on my list include:

  • Riverdance - June 14-17
  • Pink Martini- June 18
  • Aretha Franklin - July 5
  • Diana Krall - July 16
  • Robert Cray - July 17
  • National Symphony Orchestra - various dates
  • Hippiefest with The Turtles, Rascals, The Zombies, Mountain, Mitch Ryder, Badfinger, Country Joe McDonald - July 30 (Okay, I admit it, I was too young for Woodstock and this might be the closest thing to it I’ll ever see.)
  • Gypsy Kings - August 10
