Tube Down the Potomac River
Now that summer is in full swing, how about a lazy tube ride down the Shenandoah River. Not enough adrenalin? How about tubing down the white water on Potomac River?
Take a 2 hour self-guided float down either the calm Shenandoah River, or the faster paced Potomac River near Harpers Ferry, WV.
The Shenandoah float is great for families with little kids (must be 4 years old and 30+ lbs.) or for folks who just want to relax. While the Potomac River float includes some Class I-III rapids sections for a bit more excitement. Kids need to be 12+ years old and 5′ tall for this one.

Is alcohol really prohibited on the river? In previous years, we were told that alcohol was prohibited in the park, but once on the river they couldn’t prevent you from popping open a beer. Of course, if you were fall-down-drunk when you exited the river, they could detain you. Did something change, or is this just the company trying to prevent people from bringing beer?

I can only assume the no alcohol rule is to reduce liability. I have no idea if anyone checks your cooler or enforces the rule.
