The American Institute of Architects Top 150 U.S. Buildings

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) recently published poll results listing the most loved 150 buildings in the U.S. 

Topping the list was the Empire State Building in New York. But the next three buildings, were all Washington, DC icons.  In fact six of the top ten are in the District.

Out of the 150, a total of 16 DC buildings were on the list, with another three within an hour or so drive.

                     White House

  • 4.  Jefferson Memorial
  • 6.  U.S. Capitol
  • 7.  Lincoln Memorial
  • 10. Vietnam Veterans Memorial
  • 12. Washington Monument
  • 15. Supreme Court
  • 27. Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello (Charlottesville, VA)
  • 28. Library of Congress
  • 34. National Gallery of Art
  • 37. Union Station
  • 50. Virginia State Capitol (Richmond, VA)
  • 63. National Air and Space Museum
  • 76. The Willard Hotel
  • 79. Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center
  • 112. National Building Museum
  • 122. Oriole Park at Camden Yards (Baltimore, MD)
  • 124. U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum
