The 17th Annual Washington Jewish Film Festival - Nov. 30 - Dec. 10

This year, nine venues including the National Gallery of Art, the Goethe-Institute, the Embassy of Switzerland along with other Washington, DC area theaters will be presenting over 40 films of Jewish themes during the 17th Annual Washington Jewish Film Festival. 

These films examine the Jewish experience, culture and identity as created by both Jewish and non-Jewish filmmakers from around the world. Comedies, documentaries, dramas and well as animation and short films are presented.

Film topics include a multitude of topics including love, war, family, tradition (rebelling against tradition), sex, religion and day-to-day life. The documentaries also cover a wide range of subjects including the lives of eight Italian Holocaust survivors, Holocaust tourism as well as lighter subjects such as the trials and tribulations of a Jewish hip-hop trio and the lives of a group of drag performers.

The festival begins Thursday, November 30th and runs through Sunday, December 10.

Most films are shown only once, with a few scheduled for two showings.

Tickets are available at the theaters (subject to availability), online or by phone -at 1-800-494-8497. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $1.00 discount for seniors & students. Weekday matinées (1:00 p.m.) are $6.00 and Friday afternoon screenings are free.

There is also an opening and closing night film with reception and the award presentation and reception for $20.00 each.

Locations 
Nine area theaters and other venues are used for this year’s festival, all in Washington DC, except for two in suburban Maryland (Silver Spring and Bethesda).
