Watch and learn about the butterfly’s life cycle — from egg, to caterpillar, to adult butterfly emerging from their cocoons in a tropical garden setting.

Brookside Gardens in suburban Wheaton, MD is a 50-acre nature park with numerous gardens including the azalea garden, the rose garden, a kid’s garden, a formal garden, and a Japanese style garden. The garden also operated two indoor conservatories.

The garden offers periodic plant sales and shows, weekend plant clinics and outdoor musical concerts throughout the summer.

The Visitors Center is located at 1800 Glenallan Ave.

Dates and Times – Daily through September 16th, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., peak viewing hours are from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., The Visitor Center is open from 9-5.

Picnics along with food and drinks are not permitted in the Gardens.

Tickets – $5.00 adults, $4.00 kids 3-12. Kids under 3 free (no strollers allowed)

Nearest Metro subway station - Glenmont – Red line, then a 1.4 mile walk, or take the Ride-On Bus #26 to within a half mile of the park.

Parking – Free parking is available at the Visitor’s Center.
