Synetic - Dicken’s A Christmas Carol

by Jon on December 2nd, 2007

A Christmas Carol Charles Dickens’ Christmas tale of greed, family, morality and bah humbug are brought to life in this retelling with the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge learning about the joy of the holiday season.

With ghostly overnight visits from Jacob Marley, his former penny-pinching business partner, as well as the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet To Come, Scrooge is taken on a journey where he must face not only the way he conducts his life, but his mortality as well.

First published in 1843, Dickens A Christmas Carol in Prose, Being a Ghost Story of Christmas, has been adapted to stage and screen and become a staple during the holiday season for kids and adults alike.

In this version, the classic story is retold by five of Synetic Theater’s movement-savvy actors, portraying more than twenty characters.

Synetic’s avant-garde performers are known for fusing classical elements of drama, movement, dance, mime and music into its own distinct form of non-realistic theater.  Should be entertaining.

Here’s a clip from the 1951 movie version of A Christmas Carol, one of the best best film adaptations, as Scrooge wakes up from his night of enlightenment.
