Semper Fi - Marine Corps Museum

From the Revolutionary War to Iraq, the National Museum of the Marine Corps displays over 1,000 artifacts and memorabilia of the Marine Corps and their proud history.   With close to 120,00 feet of exhibit space visitors can explore some of the major battles where the Marines earned their reputation - Iwo Jima and the flag raising at Mount Suribachi, Hill 881 South at Khe Sanh in Vietnam and Toktong Pass in Korea.  Located 36 miles south of Washington, D.C., the museum sits just off the grounds of Marine Corps Base Quantico.  

Some of the memorabilia on display include a Vietnam-era Bell Huey helicopter, flak jackets, equipment, firearms and weapons, an anti-tank vehicle, numerous aircraft, a flag from Mount Suribachi, photographs, art and maps as well as a pair of Congressional Medals of Honors. You also can test  your marksmanship on a laser-simulated M-16 A2 rifle range, or sit in the pilot’s seat of an F-35 simulator Joint Striker Fighter and dogfight with enemy aircraft.

Until Nov. 2007, there is a special exhibit on America’s oldest professional musical organization - The U.S. Marine Band – also called “The President’s Own”.

Tickets – Admission is free.  The flight simulator and the rifle range each have a $5.00 charge
