Photo of the Week - Mahatma Gandhi Memorial
Leading India’s struggle for freedom from British rule by stressing non-violent non-cooperative resistance and mass civil disobedience, the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial pays honor to the political and spiritual leader of the Indian independence movement.
The statute sits in a park between Q St. and Massachusetts Ave. NW and 21st and 22nd Streets NW, across the street from the Embassy of Indian.
The term Mahatma means “Great Soul”.
