Ozzy - Saturday
From the lead singer of the dark and rebellious late-1980s 1970s British heavy metal band, Black Sabbath; to staring in the MTV surprise hit reality television show, The Osbournes – when you think Ozzy Osbourne, you think… sex, drugs, and rock and roll.
And is there an aging rocker we know more about? His ATV crash that sent him to the hospital. His comeback by creating metal’s Ozzfest. His wife Sharon getting her own short-lived daytime TV show. Their kids getting into all kinds of trouble.
But Ozzy himself has had a series of interesting “incidents” throughout his career, including:
- Biting the head off of a live bat while performing, not knowing it was alive and being rushed to the hospital.
- Admitting he shot and killed the family’s 17 cats.
- Urinating on the Alamo in San Antonio, resulting in him being banned from performing in the city for over 10 years.
- Being sued by the family of a teenager who committed suicide, for as the family’s attorney put it, encouraging a young person to commit suicide.
- Multiple lawsuits from band members for allegedly not paying royalties.
But if you’re a metal fan, Ozzy is it’s godfather.

Late 1980s British heavy metal band Black Sabbath? How old are you, Jon? Ozzy left Black Sabbath in the late ’70s, and while Sabbath was still releasing albums in the late ’80s (with just one original member left), nobody was buying them anymore. That’s a really glaring error.

Thanks for pointing out my typo Thoughclaw. And, yea, I’m definately old enough to know better. Actually one of my first introductions to rock & roll was the record collection of a buddy’s older brother in 1972. And one of the 5 albums we listened to over and over was Sabbath’s second album Paranoid, notably Iron Man. Thanks for the correction.
