Not Your Typical Maryland Crab Boil

by Jon on September 22nd, 2007

Crab sign Crabbing for the Maryland Blue Crab has long been associated with the Chesapeake.  And the newspaper-covered picnic table piled high with spicy steamed crabs has just as long of a history.  But we can’t limit ourselves to just “pickin’ crab” and crabcakes. …at least that’s what a dozen area top chefs are out to prove at the First Annual Gourmet Crab and Wine Festival.

Here are just a few of the crab dishes planned:

  • Alaska Jumbo Crab Leg Meat with Chardonnay Sabayon
  • Crab Corndog served with Old Bay and Crab Roe Remoulade
  • Raviolini Stuffed with Lump Crabmeat and Asparagus Served with Butter Sage Sauce
  • Soft Shell Crab Wrapped in Crunchy Rice Cracker and Green Tea Salt

Crabs up close

And if the 15+ crab dishes don’t fill you up, you can try one of the many decadent desserts including Passion Fruit and Raspberry Mousse, White Limoncello Chocolate Mousse or Kona Coffee Mocha Brownie. Yum!

This is a stand-up event, with 24 signature dishes from a dozen chefs  and 20 wines to sample.
