Monument Monday - The Titanic
Not all of the monuments and memorials in Washington, DC were built on a grand scale to honor great men and women in American history. Many memorials are smaller and barely known, even by lifelong residents.
On April 15th, 1912, the luxury liner RMS Titanic sunk about four hours after striking a iceberg in the North Atlantic. The loss of life, over 1,500, makes the Titanic the one of the worst maritime disasters.
A monument honors the sacrifices of some of the passengers, notably brave men, who gave their lives so that many women and children may live.
The 13-foot tall Women’s Titanic Memorial and statue was erected by the Women’s Titanic Memorial Association. The memorial was unveiled and dedicated by President Taft and his wife in May of 1931. It was moved to its current site overlooking the waterfront in 1971, from the grounds which is now the Kennedy Center.
The inscription on the statute reads:
To the brave men who perished in the wreck of the Titanic
April 15, 1912
They gave their lives that women and children might be saved.
Erected by the women of America
Women’s Titanic Memorial
P Street, SW, west of 4th Street, SW.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE AND THE FIRST TIME I WATCH I CRY FOR AN HOUR I CANT BELIEVE THAT HAPPEN AND I STILL CANT BELIEVE THAT HAPPENED THAT IS THE SAD STORY AND AS LONG I LIVE I WILL ALWAYS REMERBER THIS MOVIE AND THEY THING THATS DOES PEOPLE’S WENT THROUGHT ITS SO SAD

very sad historic event i feel 4 every1 of them n the movie to it is also sa makes me cry everytime.. but as we no the film is based on a true thing that happened ent it funny how the sista ships of the titanic (britannic and olypic) also sank i recon its a curse , curse of the white star line.. i recon if they made another ship the white star line that will also sink again .. but lets hope they dnt bcuz the ammount of ppl hu died in the titannic is horrible .. n rip all of them

I love the story of it but i think that the love story of the titanic wasnt real but really it is one of the best films 12 oscar award

I think the story of the titanic is one of the saddest storiers and movie i have heard and seen. I started to cry when i saw the ship sink and when i saw the children sleeping in your beds when the ship is about to sink.. . . . . .soooooooooooooooooooooo sad.
