Magic Johnson and Hoops for the Homeless®

by Jon on June 2nd, 2007

HoopsMagic Johnson and a team of sports celebrities will be on hand at the annual Hoops for the Homeless 3-on-3 charity basketball tournament benefiting the homeless.

This is a great cause and a chance to see some great b-ball. The 3-person competing teams must raise $1,000 each to play.

In the DC area, more than 12,000 people are homeless and one fourth are kids. Last year’s Hoops for the Homeless raised $900,000.

Some of the sports celebrities include:

  • Washington Redskins Alumni - Tom Carter, Tyronne Drakeford, Joe Krakoski, Raleigh McKenzie, Reggie Evans and Ricky Ervins
  • Baltimore Ravens - Daniel Wilcox and Dennis Haley
  • Philadelphia Eagles Alumni - Ray Sydnor
  • Dallas Mavericks Alumni - Derek Chandler
  • George Washington Univ. - Coach Joseph McKeown
  • 1996 Olympic Gymnastics Silver Medalist - Jair Lynch

I attend every year, I just love it. I look forward to coming. I would like for Magic to have some of the players that he played with their.
