Live Earth Concert Comes to DC
In a last-minute addition, former VP turned rock promoter and global warming guru, Al Gore announced that one of the eight nine Live Earth concerts will be held in DC this Saturday at the National Museum of the American Indian.
The museum had a “Mother Earth” concert on the books for this Saturday, and is simply adding to the list of performers.
The tentative schedule at the NMAI (subject to change) includes music, lectures, a movie and other performances running until 9:30 p.m.
Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood and Blues Nation will perform at the free concert starting around 10:30 a.m. ![]()
Gore is the the keynote speaker and will speak on climate change and global warming, while calling for a freezing on greenhouse gas levels (carbon dioxide) in the U.S.
Other Live Earth concerts are being held around the globe at the same time in London, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hamburg, Rio de Janeiro, Sydney, Johannesburg, and New Jersey.
Since the museum’s plaza can not hold more than a few hundred people, large video screens are being erected for spectators to watch from across the street, near the Capitol reflecting pool. If crowds are big, I’m thinking finding a nice spot on the lawn might be tough.
