“It’s…The Beatles!!!”
That’s how Ed Sullivan introduced the Fab Four back in February, 1964. Their performance on The Ed Sullivan Show ushered in the British music invasion. The up and coming British rock band, The Beatles, received national attention when couple days before at New York’s JFK airport, an estimated 3,000 screaming fans showed up to greet them.
And you can relive the experience of their first American concert tour, or at least something close, perhaps without all the screaming teenagers and teenie-bopper hysteria.
Rolling Stone magazine calls 1964…The Tribute the “best Beatles tribute band on earth”. The show captures the essence of The Beatles in their early Liverpool days, just as they were starting on the road to global stardom. The band, called 1964 the Tribute, formed in 1982, and has since played close to 3,000 shows to critical acclaim.
Complete with black suits, skinny ties, mod haircuts, and singing classics such as “I Wanna Hold Your Hand”, “Eight Days A Week” and “A Hard Days Night”, it should be night to reminisce of more innocent days.

D.C. residents should have a particular affinity for the Beatles, as their first American performance was in D.C., in a building most recently lovingly preserved as a garbage transfer facility.

That’s right sprite. I forgot I wrote about their first concert in DC back in Feb.
