Is it Hockey Season Already?

by Jon on October 7th, 2007

Yes, it’s time for cold Face Offsteel on ice - Cap’s style.

Saturday, Oct. 6th is the Washington Capitals home opener against the Carolina Hurricane at the Verizon Center.

The Caps are coming off a dismal 2005-06 season with a 28 wins, 40 losses, with 14 overtime shootout losses record that left them in 14th place out of 15 teams in the Eastern Conference.

Their home game record was 17 and 17 (and 7), but their record on the road was worse, 11-23 (and 7), so home ice is probably the best place to watch this season if you want a win.

In the preseason, the Caps were 3 and 3 with one overtime loss.

If you think you might enjoy watching a behind-the-scenes Caps practice, you can in Arlington.  Check out my post from last season.  Practices are free to watch, but call the rink in advance for scheduled times.

I’m super excited about hockey being back! My Sabres are off to a not so good start. It was tough losing Drury and Briere, hopefully the young guys can pick up the slack.

Caps should be better this year, Ovechkin is a great player!
