Get Ready for Ski Season
When the weather turns cold and snow is in the air, there’s a bunch of places to ski and snowboard, all within a just a few hours drive of Washington, DC.
And while area ski resorts may be showing some glorious Fall colors today, in just a couple short months, and a good dose of cold weather, the view will change and they will probably look more like….![]()
In Virginia, you can ski and snowboard at Bryce Mountain and Massanutten Resorts, both in Shenandoah Valley.
In Pennsylvania there’s Ski Liberty (the closest ski resort to DC), Whitetail Mountain, Ski Roundtop and a few more. ![]()
The only place to hit the slopes in Maryland is Wisp Ski Resort in McHenry. And in West Virginia you can try Snowshoe Mountain and Timberline Four Seasons.
But if you want to be ready for the ski and snowboarding season, check out the National Ski & Snowboarding Expo.
Besides checking out all the latest in ski and snowboarding equipment and apparel, you can attend the newest Warren Miller latest crazy annual ski movie “Playground” and also receive a free pass to Ski Liberty.
My favorite quote of Millers is “If you don’t do it this year, you’ll be one year older when you do.” So true!

There’s also virtual reality ski racing, a super rail competition, give-aways, tons of retailers and even a free 12-month subscription to Ski, Skiing, or Snowboarding magazines for every attendee.
