Enjoy Nature? Become a Field Researcher for a Day
Join field biologists, conservationists and nature lovers at one the country’s oldest national parks for a weekend of bio-research, nature expeditions, formal species identification and learning about nature and biodiversity from experts. Biologist, naturalists and scientist will lead teams of volunteers while conducting a 24-hour bio-blitz census in Rock Creek Park, combing the park’s 1,755 acres while observing and recording as many species as possible. You might even see one of the park’s coyotes or White-tailed deer.
Want to participate? Volunteers are needed to assist field biologists, help with logistics, registration, data entry, helping guide field expeditions, set-up and clean-up, and more. Registration is required to participate, but participation is free. Click here to register.

There’s also a kids and family-oriented musical performance about natural science on Saturday. Through rhythm and blues, hip-hop, ska, and high-energy dancing, the entire family can learn about the animals and other inhabitants of Rock Creek Park.

Nearest Metro subway stations - Friendship Heights - Red line, then the E-2 or E-3 E4 Metrobus to Glover and Military Road and follow the trail to the Nature Center.
Parking - Free on-site parking is available.
