Behind-the-scenes of the Washington Capitals
My new buddy Eric, who writes What’s up Arlington recently wrote about attending free Washington Capitals hockey practice sessions.
The Washington Capitals, DC’s NHL hockey team, practices at two area locations. Closed practices are held at the Verizon Center where the Caps play their home games, but you can attend their open practices at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex in close-by suburban Arlington, VA.
Practice schedules are published on the Cap’s web site and updated weekly. On some days, there are two or three practices scheduled, some over the lunch hour.
It’s a good idea to call the Kettler Capitals Iceplex in advance as the Cap’s practice schedules are fairly flexible and can change at the last minute.
Practice sessions last anywhere from 1½ hours to 3 hours.
