Become a Film Maker…in 48-Hours
Take 100 teams of filmmakers and wanna-be Hitchcocks, Spielbergs and Scorseses from the DC area and assign them a movie genre, give them a prop, a charcter and a specific line of dialogue that needs to be used and let them loose with 48-hours (May 4-6) to create 4-7 minute long film.
In its 7th year, the 48 Hour Film Project which started in Washington, DC, has expanded to include over 55 U.S. cites and 11 foreign cities. A winning film from each city is selected and competes against the other city winners.
The rules allow for the film teams to organize their crew, cast, equipment (2 camera maximum), and scout locations in advance. All the production elements, including script writing, rehersal, set design and costuming, shooting, editing and sound editing must be done in the allotted 48-hour period.
Just a couple days after the films are completed, you can screen them at AFI Silver Theater.

Dates and Times - Tuesday - Friday, May 8-11, 7:00 & 9:30 p.m. nightly, with the Best of May 24th, 7:00 & 9:30 p.m.
Tickets - Check the theater’s website for details. Tickets for this event usually sells out quickly.
Nearest Metro subway station - Silver Spring - Red line, then a 2-block walk.
Parking - The Wayne Ave. garage (between Georgia Ave. and Fenton St.) provides free parking after 6:00 p.m. weekdays and all day on weekends.
