Barack Obama Stops Traffic in Washington, DC

On Thursday morning, I was sitting at a traffic light at Constitution Ave. and 17th Street, across from the Lock Keeper’s House. As I approached the intersection, multiple police on motorcycle swooped in, blocking traffic on Constitution, meaning only one thing…Someone important was coming by.

On his way to make an economic address at George Mason University on 21st century economy that morning, President-elect Barack Obama’s motorcade cruised by, complete with police motorcycles and cars, multiple black SUVs, a couple minivans, a press van and an ambulance.

If you have never seen a VIP’s motorcade in DC, it is a site of efficiency and police coordination.

Now if only traffic flows so effectively on Inauguration Day.
