Air Force Memorial - Update

by Jon on January 8th, 2007

Air Force Memorial 1Last week, I had my first chance to visit the new Air Force Memorial located adjacent to the Pentagon.   I wrote an earlier post about the memorial in The DC Traveler in November.

I must say that it is impressive, majestic and very beautiful. It was a beautiful day with blue skys and there was no one else around visiting, other than a few workmen. The site offers a great panorama of the Mall, the Pentagon and planes landing at Reagan National Airport. But I think I’ll let my photos do the talking.

Directions - The memorial is a bit tough to find, especially since most of the online map sites don’t have the address (One Air Force Memorial Dr.) listed yet.   The easiest way to get to the memorial is to map out the intersection of Columbia Pike and Washington Blvd. in Arlinton, VA.  From there, it’s only a block north on Washington Blvd.
