A Book Lovers Paradise - The National Book Festival

Close to 70 authors, illustrators, writers and poets join this year’s 2008 National Book Festival on the National Mall in Washington, DC.

  • Travel guidebook writers Arthur and Pauline Frommer.
  • CBS Evening News host, Bob Schieffer.
  • The last of Edward R. Murrow’s legendary gang of CBS reporters, Daniel Schorr.
  • No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agent writer, Alexander McCall Smith.
  • The always controversial Salman Rushdie.
  • Sandra Brown, the author of romantic and suspense novels.
  • New York Giants running back and children’s book writer, Tiki Barber.
  • Plus dozens more.

Visit one or all of the themed-based pavilions, including:

  • Fiction & Mystery
  • History & Biography
  • Home & Family
  • Poetry

Children can meet their favorite storybook and PBS characters. Adults can learn about all the Library of Congress resources and online collections as well.

For sports fans, NBA Hall of Fame player, Bob Lanier, will read favorite children’s stores.

Tickets - This event ifs FREE.

Nearest Metro Subway Station - Smithsonian – Blue and Orange line, then a 3-block walk

Parking - Parking near the Mall may be challenging. Try to use Metro.
