Russian-Slavic Festival – Sept. 29th
It seems that I’ve met more and more people from the former Soviet Union in the past couple years, and that it encouraged me to do a bit of research. Just over 3% of the population of the DC metro area consists of people from the former Soviet Union, which make DC the 7th largest area in the U.S. for former Russian nationals to live.
The family-oriented Fall Russian-Slavic Cultural Festival in suburban McLean, Virginia brings together the culture, heritage, music and food from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Enjoy musical performances, including DC’s own Balalaika Russian Orchestra, costumed dancers, singers along with arts and crafts. For the kids, a Children’s Arts & Crafts Workshop will be open where they can make culturally unique crafts to take home. Also for the kids will be a free moon bounce and pony rides, face painting, storytelling and door prizes.
