Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse
Have you ever wondered about the lonely life of a lighthouse keeper?
After a 30-minute boat ride out to one of the most beautiful lighthouses on the East Coast, the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse, you’ll be treated to a rare tour and history of the lighthouse led by docents from the Annapolis Maritime Museum. You’ll experience the feel of what it was like to live as a lighthouse keeper in the late 1800s and throughout the 1900s.
Constructed in 1875, the Thomas Point Shoal Lighthouse is the last screwpile lighthouse still in its original location, a mile and a half into the Chesapeake Bay near the mouth of the South River.

Tours – The three-hour tours are limited to 18 people and advanced reservations are required by calling 1-800-690-5080. Must be 12+ years old and at least 4′ tall. Climbing a ladder into the lighthouse and up and down stairs are part of the tour, so practical shoes are a must. There are also are no restrooms either on the boat or at the lighthouse. Tours start at The Barge House.
Dates and Times – July 28, 29, August 11, 12, 25, 26, September 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30. Three tours daily at 9:00 a.m., noon and 3:00 p.m. To book call toll-free
