Food in June Round-up
During June, we “celebrate” several “national” and “official” designated food related events, including National Candy Month, National Steakhouse Month, Turkey Lovers Month, Ice Tea Month, Soul Food Month, Vinegar Day (6/16), Dairy Month, the invention of the donut (1847) and the list goes on.
So what month is better to celebrate food, dining, and cooking than June with a blogger’s Theme Day?
Here are some of the “food” entries by my fellow b5media Travel and Culture bloggers:
- Melissa at Europe String tells us about Dining Alfresco in Europe. There is nothing like enjoying a relaxing dinner outdoors or just a glass of wine at a sidewalk cafe and watching the world go by.
- Lynn at The Paris Traveler explores some of the more interesting food emporiums in the City of Lights. Just the photos alone made me hungry.
- Matt at The Chicago Traveler makes us hungry with his report on champions of breakfast in Chicago.
- Mary Jo at The Seattle Traveler enlightens us on the Seattle institution – Dick’s for burgers. Yum!!
- She also writes about getting reservations (impossible, unless you know someone) at Rao’s in Harlem at Fly Away Cafe.
- Alex at Sirened gives us a look at the economics of food and healthy eating, and challenges us to think about what and how we’d eat for $3 a day.
- And finally, giving The DC Traveler a plug, my contribution is about some of the great ice cream parlors in the Washington, DC area.
- And in a late addition, Grace from Filipina Soul tells us about eating a “special” local delicacy – duck eggs, but DEFINITELY not the way most of us eat a typical egg. (Warning- there is a huge potential “gross factor”.) Not sure I agree that it’s like eating tempura sushi rolls, and I will normally try just about anything.

Thanks for hosting the round up! Everything sound yummy — well, except for the whole duck egg thing. . . .

Along with all the food holidays we “celebrate” June 5th is also “Hunger Awareness Day” so it’s ironic that the food theme has come right around this time. Just wanted to mention that one.
Thanks for hosting Jon!
