A Visit to India, Mongolia and Ireland – “Ramble Dinner”

Boaters call them Dingy Dine-Arounds, where you go from boat to boat in your row boat sampling a different dinner course at each host’s boat. On land, they’re commonly called Progressive Dinners. But today, I heard a new term, the “Ramble Dinner” - where one ‘rambles’ around to different places to enjoy in their dining courses.

Woman eating Mongolian BBQProfessionals in the City, a national social and networking organization for professionals under 50 is hosting a downtown DC Dinner Ramble with three exotic locales.  It’s also a great chance to sample the foods from three different restaurants in one evening.  

The evening starts with Indian appetizers, entrees at a Mongolian BBQ house and then on to dessert (and one must assume a post-dinner cocktail) at an Irish pub and restaurant.  And all three restaurants are within a couple blocks. 

Indiuan Appetizers photoThe culinary journey begins with a sampling of ten appetizers from Northern India at Mehak Restaurant.  Then on to an authentic Mongolian dinner at Tony Cheng’s which has been voted “Best of DC”, and finally end with some live Irish music and yummy dessert such as including Bailey’s Chocolate Mousse, Banana Cheesecake Beignet or Ice Cream Brownie Sundaes at Irish Channel Pub.
