Dreams Do Come True – Cinderella

The classic fairy tale Cinderella, is one we all learned as kids. But who knew the original story is actually Chinese, dating back to the Ming Dynasty (860 AD)?

Cinderella Book CoverForced into a life serving and cleaning for her wicked step-mother and sisters, Cinderella accepts the assistance of her fairy-godmother and becomes the belle of the ball.  Only to lose her slipper at the final stroke of midnight after meeting and catching the eye (and the heart) of the handsome and charming prince.  This updated telling at the Olney Theater  in suburban Maryland includes a rather rambunctious and brainy Cinderella.

Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella (1957 Television Production)Popularized in the written form by the Brothers Grimm in the mid-1800s, a number of famous retellings have made the story into a classic.  Kids of all ages will remember the 1950 Disney animated version, which is considered to be one of Disney’s most loved classsics. And the Olney Theater production is based on the the 1957 television special staring Julie Andrews that was put to music by Rodgers and Hammerstein.
